CZECH AMBASSADOR TO AZERBAIJAN VISITS TOVUZ
Baku, June 13 (AZERTAC). Czechia`s ambassador in Baku Radek Matula has visited Tovuz, a region in the west of Azerbaijan.
The visit took place on the initiative of MP Ganira Pashayeva.
Matula met governor Tofig Zeynalov who informed him of the region`s geographical location and economic and tourism potential. Zeynalov also highlighted the region`s investment climate. He invited Czech businessmen to consider starting business in Tovuz.
Matula described Azerbaijan as a “stable and economically developed” country.
The ambassador touched upon the Azerbaijan-Czechia economic relations, saying: “I think by making such visits we`ll help our businessmen.”
“Of course, businessmen must cooperate not only with Baku but also with Azerbaijan`s regions. I believe Czech businessmen can start, for example, technological cooperation with their counterparts in Tovuz,” added Matula.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador said Czechia supported a peaceful solution to the dispute based on the international legal norms. 
“My position is an official position of the Czech Republic. We want the dispute to be solved on the basis of norms of the international law. We also back efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, which is working on the basis of the international legal norms. We support Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and also the inviolability of its internationally recognized borders.”
In Tovuz, Matula also visited Alibayli and Agdam towns bordering with Armenia. In Alibayli, the ambassador viewed a house and school completely damaged by Armenian machine-gun bullets.
Matula was told that the Armenian armed forces had been constantly violating the ceasefire. The Gzech ambassador also spoke with local residents who were injured as a result of Armenia`s ceasefire violations.
In Agdam, Ganira Pashayeva informed Matula of a cemetery which had been demolished by the Armenian armed forces. Pashayeva said the cemetery was under constant attack from machine-gun fire from the Armenian side.
Matula and Pashayeva then visited a military unit where they met with soldiers and presented them with keepsakes. The Czech ambassador also visited several local businesses in the region.
In a talk with journalists, Pashayeva said Matula`s visit to Tovuz was very important.
“Czechia is one of the most important European countries. Being a member of both NATO and the European Union, the country has always supported Azerbaijan. The ambassador`s visit is of great significance. Matula visited the towns which border with Armenia, where he witnessed atrocities of the Armenian armed forces,” said Pashayeva.
