Foreign Ministry concerned about actions outside Azerbaijan’s consulate in Tabriz
Baku, May 19 (AZERTAC). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is concerned about the intensification of actions held outside the consulate general of Azerbaijan in Tabriz, spokesman of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told the journalists.
Abdullayev reminded that Azerbaijan and Iran have ancient historical traditions, common historical roots. “Unfortunately the forces damaging our relations stand behind these actions. They are not interested in development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations. We noted repeatedly that Azerbaijan doesn’t consult with anyone while making political decisions. We establish our relations with Iran on the basis of friendly neighborhood principles, which don’t consider interference in domestic affairs of each other. This is an equal neighborhood relationship”.
Underlining the Azerbaijan’s loyalty to this principle Abdullayev said Azerbaijan was changed in the last 20 years. “Our country turned into the developed country of the region and a partner”. The spokesperson noted that the largest obstacle to the region’s development was Armenia’s aggression policy and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict as its consequence.
Abdullayev reminded that entire Muslim world, the world community and Organization of Islamic Cooperation supported Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict and recognized Armenia as an aggressor country: “The Muslim world, Organization of Islamic Cooperation adopted the documents and resolutions condemning the occupation of the lands of Azerbaijan. It shows that the Muslim world doesn’t remain indifferent to Azerbaijan’s tragedy. Unfortunately, the forces that stand behind the actions outside the Azerbaijan’s consulate general in Iran damage both sides, including Iran-Azerbaijan relations”.
