France fears serial killer on loose
Baku, April 7 (AZERTAC). France was gripped by a fresh wave of terror when it is believed that a serial killer is responsible for four murders in a Paris suburb. It comes just weeks after crazed Muslim fanatic Mohamed Merah went on a killing spree in south-west France, fleeing the scenes on a scooter.
Widow, 47, shot near her home in Grigny, on the outskirts of Paris, by a gunman who fled the scene on a moped.
The four victims have been gunned down in housing estates within a 6-mile radius to the south of the capital since November, all shot at close range from the same weapon. In all the cases, the gunman was seen escaping on a motorbike.
In at least two of the shootings - all in the same southern suburb of Essone region of the capital - the killer has fled on a blue Suzuki GXSR 1000 motorbike. All victims were shot with the same type of weapon.
Laboratory assistant Nathalie Davids, 35, was murdered first on November 27, 2011.
In February one of her neighbours,a 52-year-old man, Jean-Yves Bonnerue, was killed in the same car park in Juvisy-sur-Orge.
Then, on 19 March, an 81-year-old man was killed by a shot to the head.
In three cases, the victims were shot in the head but all four died between 4pm and 6pm.
Investigators believe the first murder was committed by a different person, using the same gun. Only the second, third and fourth killings, victims were shot in the head at close range - appear to have been carried out by the same man.
Although the first two killings pre-dated Merah`s murders, the similarity of the modus operandi is said to be “both striking and frightening”.
