GEORGIAN EMBASSY IN BAKU MARKS INDEPENDENCE DAY
Baku, May 26 (AZERTAC). The embassy of Georgia in Baku has organized an official reception to mark the country`s Independence Day.
Opening the event, ambassador Nikoloz Gogitidze spoke of the country`s history and currents achievements.
“Today, Georgia is resolutely moving forward on the path towards strengthening independence, developing economy and building a free and democratic society.”
The ambassador praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia. He added the two countries` peoples had had friendly historical traditions.
The diplomat emphasized the fact “presidents Mikheil Saakashvili and Ilham Aliyev place a particular emphasis on strengthening friendship between our countries and peoples”.
Gogitidze also offered greetings to the Azerbaijani President and people as the country is going to celebrate the Republic Day.
Attending the event, Azerbaijan`s foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov congratulated the Georgian people on the Independence Day.
The minister hailed the relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia, emphasizing national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in this regard.
“It was the national leader`s wise policy that pushed the Azerbaijan-Georgia relations to a new level of development.”
Mammadyarov underlined the implementation of regional projects would boost the welfare of the two countries` peoples.
The event was attended by Azeri officials, MPs and ambassadors.
