HEYDAR ALIYEV – ONE OF THE GREATEST PERSONALITIES OF AZERBAIJAN

In an interview to AzerTAj correspondent, the chairman of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan, Milli Majlis deputy Anar said that it is hard to speak of this sorrowful news. We have felt uneasy for a couple of months. However, we hoped that he would recover and return to his homeland. Today, these hopes faded away. Azerbaijan people have become orphaned. Ilham Aliyev and Sevil Khanum lost their father, Azerbaijan people – their great son and as for me, I lost – native, close and dear man to me.

It may be said that all my life was surrounded with care and attention. I felt this care from my teens and twenties up to recently. I felt shy to say such pomp words when he was alive. Today, I can say that Heydar Aliyev was one of the greatest personalities of Azerbaijan people, one of the outstanding politicians, wise and strong-willed man.

Strengthening and securing the independence of Azerbaijan is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev. It may be safely said that independent Azerbaijan is his creation. This is really so.

Turning to my people, I want to say that the important goal is to secure the unity of Azerbaijan. All disputes and feuds is nothing in comparison to death and eternity.

That is why, we must swear before the memory of Heydar Aliyev that the interests of nation, its development is higher than other senses and feelings.

May Allah rest Heydar Aliyev’s soul rest in peace.
