IDEA organizes “Let’s protect gazelles!” environmental summer camp

“Let’s protect gazelles!” environmental camp summer was organized in Goygol district, Azerbaijan on July 10-12.
The camp was co-organized by IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Association, Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, Children-Youth Development Center of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Baku office of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the framework of the “Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat in the Caucasus” program initiated by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva.
A total of 30 schoolchildren from Goygol, Ganja and Samukh districts came together in Goygol in order to be informed about the lifestyle, habitat of gazelles and their role in nature.

According to the IDEA Public Association, the main goal of the summer camp is to inform the younger generation, living in areas considered for reintroduction of gazelles, about this species.
The children also took part in various small environmental studies, quizzes and competitions.

All participants were awarded with certificates and memorable gifts.
The "Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat areas in Caucasus" program has been successfully carried out since 2010 within the framework of joint cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, IDEA Public Association and the representative office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Azerbaijan. Over the years, 370 gazelles have been reintroduced from the Shirvan National Park to their historical habitat areas in Azerbaijan and Georgia. The permanent monitoring and protection of gazelles are being implemented in these areas.
