Iraq interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan
Baku, January 17 (AZERTAC). Visiting Chief of Iraqi Council of Representatives` Committee on Foreign Relations Humam Hamoody has today met members of Azerbaijan-Iraq working group on interparliamentary relations.
Head of the working group Ilham Mammadov briefed Humam Hamoody on the structure, activity and foreign relations of the Azerbaijan`s Paliament.
Mammadov said after regaining its independence, Azerbaijan established close friendly relations with various countries, including Iraq. The Milli Majlis has more than 100 interparliamentary friendship groups with various countries, including Iraq.
The head of the working group expressed hope the visit of the Iraqi delegation to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mammadov also spoke of Azerbaijan`s social and economic achievements and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Humam Hamoody underlined Iraq was interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He said the goal of the visit was to expand interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq.
Head of Iraq-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Jala Yunis spoke about prospects for relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
They also discussed organization of the reciprocal visits and prospects for cultural, tourism, sports, science and education cooperation.
