Israel`s 9th channel airs video report on Azerbaijan-Israel strategic relations
Baku, April 23 (AZERTAC). A video report on the current stage of strategic relations between Azerbaijan and Israel has been shown in popular Israeli program “Contact” on the 9th channel.
The report presents Azerbaijan as the geopolitical and geoeconomic leader in the South Caucasus, and highlights the situation around the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the aggressive policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, as well as the geostrategic position of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus.
The program features an interview with author and anchorman, famous Israeli journalist Eugeniy Sova, who speaks about the Azerbaijani-Israeli ties. International relations expert, board member of Israel-Azerbaijan International Association Arie Gut says the Azerbaijan-Israel relations are strategically important to both countries and nations. "The inter-government political relations that are characterized by close and sincere ties between presidents Shimon Peres of Israel and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan take a special place in the relations. Israel highly praises the principled and independent foreign policy conducted by Azerbaijan," Gut adds.
According to the expert, Israel is one of the main consumers of Azerbaijani oil on the world market. “Israel is an important strategic partner of Azerbaijan, as well as the supplier of the most advanced technologies in oil and gas, defense, telecommunication and agricultural sectors," Gut said.
Gut praised the contribution of the Israel-Azerbaijan International Association (AZIZ) to increasing the role and improving the image of Azerbaijan in Israel.
"Today Azerbaijan is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Israel praises the leading role of Azerbaijan in the warm and sincere attitude to 20,000-member Jewish community. There has never been anti-Semitism in Azerbaijan and we, as Azerbaijani ethnic, as the Azerbaijani Diaspora, always take pride in this factor of tolerance. Azerbaijan is a real pattern of a dialogue between civilizations. Show me any other country, either Muslim or Christian, which builds two synagogues and the biggest educational Jewish centre in the South Caucasus under the patronage of the president and the first lady. I think there is no other country," the board member of the international association said.
As for the prospects of recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide by the Israeli Knesset, Gut noted that granting the status of genocide to the Armenian tragedy will damage the ties between Israel and Turkey, and worsen the relations between Israel and Azerbaijan.
