ISTANBUL HOSTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON 1400TH YEAR OF HOLY QURAN`S REVELATION
Baku, September 7 (AZERTAC). An international conference featuring the 1400th year of revelation of the holy Quran has been held in Istanbul.
Organized by the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), the international event was attended by 80 high ranking religious and political personalities and Muslim scholars from 40 countries, representatives of Islamic organizations, and ambassadors of Islamic countries in Turkey.
Chairman of Azerbaijan State Committee for the Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov addressed the event.
Orujov highlighted national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev`s care for Islam. He added President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader`s policy. Orujov underlined favorable conditions had been created in Azerbaijan for people of different faiths. “According to reports of international organizations, Azerbaijan is the most tolerant country in the world,” he said.
Attending the event, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Chairman of Religious Affairs Directorate Ali Bardakoglu underlined the importance of the conference.
