Italy-Azerbaijan Association discuses its activity in Rome
Rome, December 23 (AZERTAC). An annual conference of the Italy-Azerbaijan Association has been held in Rome to discuss the year-end results of its activity.
Opening the conference, chairman of the Italy-Azerbaijan Association Paola Kazagrande spoke of the events conducted by the Association. She noted that the exhibition Colours of the Nizami Ganjavi`s World, Solidarity Summer Camp humanitarian project for the Shusha IDP children as well as the concert to mark the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev and others contributed to expansion of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in culture, tourism, and social spheres.
The Chairman of the Association also provided an insight into the future projects to be implemented in the years to come. She pointed out that the main aim is to hold a series of events contributing to the cooperation between the two countries.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Italy Vagif Sadigov said the important projects have been realized to expand political, cultural, economic and tourism relations between the two countries. According to him, there are ample opportunities for developing these relations even more.
The ambassador pointed out that the organization founded in March 2013 aims popularize bilateral relations in the fields of culture, tourism and education.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Sadigov noted that the Armenian aggression resulted in occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands, displacement of over 1 million people.
“The Association is capable of raising the Italian public`s awareness about the truths on Azerbaijan. I believe the organization will be even more active in this direction,” he said.
Speaking to the conference, MP, chairman of the Azerbaijan-Italy interparliamentary friendship group Azer Karimli noted that the Association managed to bring large-scale projects to fruition although it has been created recently.
Karimli noted Azerbaijan is a tolerant country with peoples and religions living in peace and harmony. He said Azerbaijan found itself among five most tolerant countries on the International Tolerance Day. The country has never witnessed any conflicts on the grounds of religion.
Speaking at the event were founders of the Association Marco Galimberti, Daniel Vincelli, Ezio Sina and others. They expressed confidence that the Association would contribute to educating the Italian public about the truths on Azerbaijan and developing humanitarian, touristic and other ties.
