Jordanian Senate condemns Khojaly Genocide
Baku, July 3 (AZERTAC). The senate of Jordan has issued a statement condemning the Khojaly genocide and demanding settlement of the Azerbaijan—Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement was adopted on the basis of decisions of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, as well as a visit by the Jordanian Senate`s delegation to Azerbaijan.
The statement condemns the violence committed against the peaceful Azerbaijani population and acts of vandalism against mosques and Islamic shrines, calling this a crime against human rights.
The Senate also calls for the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict in conformity with international law and the UN Security Council resolutions on the dispute.
Jordan's legislative body also notes the country's commitment to peaceful resolution of all conflicts and encourages other countries to provide humanitarian assistance to Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons, who have faced grave consequences of the conflict.
Twenty years ago, on 25-26 February 1992, Armenian armed forces, with the help of the 366th motorized infantry regiment`s military hardware and personnel, attacked and ruined the town of Khojaly and committed genocide against Azerbaijanis.
Armenia has not yet implemented four U.N. Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
