Baku, March 12 (AZERTAC). Filipa Sousa will fly the Portuguese flag in Baku following her victory in the festival de Cancao. Filipa will sing the song Vida minha in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 24th May. The festival was hosted by Silvia Alberto, Pedro Granger and Joana Teles.

Twelve acts contested this year’s Portuguese national final. In the end Filipa Sousa won the right to represent Portugal with the song Vida minha. The winner was decided via a 50%-50% professional jury and tele-voting. Filipa won both the jury and public vote. The Portuguese entry is penned by Andrej Babic and Carlos Coelho who also wrote the Portuguese entry in 2008.

This year, RTP devoted the festival to fado that marked the accession of traditional Portuguese music to UNESCO’s Oral and Intangible World Heritage list. In the interval act the vocal group voice mail performed some of the Portuguese entries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Last year Portugal ended in 18th place in the first semi-final, thus did not manage to qualify to the final.

The winner of Festival da Canção 2012, Filipa Sousa, will represent Portugal in the second Semi-Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku on the 24th of May with the song Vida Minha.
