Baku, March 12 (AZERTAC). Mandinga will represent Romania in the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

Mandinga will sing the song Zaleilah in the first semi-final to be held on 22nd May in Baku. In total fifteen acts competed in the selection better known as Selectia Nationala.

Romania selected Mandinga to represent the country in Europe’s favourite show. The show was split into two parts. Seven acts performed in the first part while the remaining eight acts performed in the second part. The winner was decided by jury voting and tele-voting at a 50%-50% split. The 2005 Romanian representative Luminita Anghel was part of the professional jury.

Last year’s Romanian representatives Hotel FM appeared in the show while the Irish duo Jedward and French hopeful Anggun also performed their entries to the Eurovision Song Contest. Last year Romania managed to qualify to the final but ended in 17th place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
