Light Your Fire! Sweden: Three backing singers for Loreen
Baku, April 9 (AZERTAC). The Swedish delegation to Eurovision published the names of the three backing singers who will accompany Loreen on the stage of the Baku Crystal Hall, for the performance of Euphoria, the country`s entry in the 2012 Eurovision.
A series of changes were needed to be introduced to the performance of Loreen we watched in Melodifestivalen, because of the different rules that apply in the Eurovision Song Contest.
No pre-recorded backing vocals are permitted in Eurovision, where all kind of vocals must be performed live. This is not the case though in Melodifestivalen, where backing singers do only lip sync.
Moreover, EBU does not allow the backing singers to be hidden backstage, but they have to be on stage along with the leading artist.
Thus, Loreen will be backed by three female singers, Johanna Beijbom, Britta Bergström and Monica Starck, as well as her male dancer Ausben Jordan.
The intention of the Swedish team is to make the backing singers as invisible as possible to the viewers in order to create that little private world for Loreen, Christer Björkman, Head of Delegation, said.
The choreography of the backing singers that have to become part of the whole show of Loreen has been assigned to Rennie Mirro and Ambra Succi.
The three ladies who will support Loreen vocally are not unknown to Melodifestivalen and Eurovision.
Johanna Beijbom was among others a backing vocalist for Olivia Lewis who represented Malta in Eurovision 2007 with the song Vertigo.
Britta Bergström has performed on a Eurovision stage several times. Last year she supported the Russian representative Alex Sparrow. She was also a backing singer of Andreas Jonhson in this year`s Melodifestivalen.
Monica Starck has released two albums as a solo artist and has cooperated with numerous recognised artists such as Lisa Nilsson, Ulf Lundell, Tomas Di Leva, Lisa Miskovsky, Lars Winnerbäck and Andreas Johnson. She also supported the latter in Melodifestivalen 2012.
Sweden in taking part at the 2nd Semi-final of this year`s Eurovision Song Contest, on May 24th, and Loreen will be competing at the 11th place.
