Media forum dedicated to 65th anniversary of OANA commences in Moscow

A media forum to mark the 65th anniversary of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) kicked off in Moscow on September 21.
More than 60 representatives from over 20 countries are participating in the event. Azerbaijan is represented at the forum by Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the AZERTAC Board and Vice-President of OANA.
The media forum opened with the inauguration of OANA's photo exhibition titled "History and Development: 65 Years of Information Exchange in the Asia-Pacific Region".
A plenary session on "OANA: 65 Years of Experience. Building a Sustainable Media Community, the Organization's Role in Shaping the Future Media Landscape of the Region" will subsequently be held. Representatives of the TASS agency, Russian state authorities, as well as heads of foreign news agencies will deliver speeches at the session.
The forum will feature three panel sessions. The sessions will feature discussions on methods to combat the spread of disinformation and fake news, the methodology and ethics of using artificial intelligence in media, as well as strategies for maintaining professional standards and the quality of information content.
The media forum will conclude with an award ceremony for the winners of the "OANA Awards" contest.
A meeting of the OANA Executive Board was held in Moscow on September 20 as part of the anniversary events.
OANA was established in 1961 on the initiative of UNESCO. The primary objective of the organization is to secure the direct and free exchange of news among news agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, home to more than half of the world's population. Currently, the world's largest regional media organization unites 41 news agencies from 33 countries. TASS holds the presidency of OANA for the 2025–2028 term.
