NATIONWIDE MOURNING IN NAKHCHIVAN
From early morning, December 14, people came to Heydar Aliyev’s bust in the center of Nakhchivan – park “Ajemi”. The executive officers of the Supreme Majlis, Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, staff of ministries, committees, offices and organizations, scholars, intelligentsia came here to revere memory of the esteemed Heydar Aliyev and laid wreath and flowers on the foot of the bust.
Chief of the Nakhchivan division of the military lyceum after Jamshid Nakhchivanski mayor-general Rasim Aliyev said:
- Foundation of the military lyceum after Jamshid Nakhchivanski in 1971 evidences to the fact that Heydar Aliyev foresaw the break-up of the Soviet Union, gaining independence of Azerbaijan and forming of the national army.
Following the break-up of the USSR, Azerbaijan had to form its army and everyone realized the rationality of steps taken by this great personality. If there were only 56 cadets in the first year, today, the number exceeds 600 people. The youth is being nurtured and taught by over 50 teachers, tens of officers and ensigns.
Foundation of the military lyceum and its division as well as the national army is strongly connected to the name of Heydar Aliyev.
“Heydar Aliyev is alive and will be alive”, the people said.
