OPENING OF IPEK YOLU INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Baku, June 30 (AZERTAC). The First International Silk Road Festival launched yesterday at Upper Karavansara hotel in Sheki, Azerbaijan. The festival is organized by the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan in conjunction with Sheki City Municipality.
The opening ceremony was addressed by outstanding Azeri composer, Professor Firangiz Alizade. She said that Sheki, notable for its original music performance manners, has a large educational system with a number of music schools and a Music College. “Our goal is to involve Sheki residents into the festival”, she emphasized.
The opening of the festival featured music performances by Sheki Music College chorus, Folk Music Instruments Orchestra, Fikret Amirov Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble. The program included overture from Uzeir Hajibeyli`s Koroglu opera, “Azerbaijan” suite by Said Rustamov, “Gozle meni” by Suleyman Alasgarov, “Ganjlik” dance by Rashid Efendiyev.
