PACE SUMMER SESSION DUE IN STRASBOURG
Baku, June 8 (AZERTAC). The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will hold its summer session on June 21-25 in Strasbourg.
On the first day of the session, PACE bureau and political affairs committee will hold a meeting to discuss budgets and priorities of the Council of Europe for the 2011 financial year.
Antonio Milososki, chairperson of the Committee of Ministers, Macedonian Minister for Foreign Affairs will deliver a presentation at the session.
Judges to the European Court of Human Rights with respect to Germany and Malta will be elected at the event.
The participants will also discuss a number of issues including “Legal remedies for human rights violations in the North Caucasus Region”, “the situation in Kosovo and the role of the Council of Europe”, “the situation of Roma in Europe and relevant activities of the Council of Europe”.
The session will also focus on the state of democracy in Europe, political consequences of the economic crisis, democracy in Europe: crisis and perspectives, functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan, Islam, Islamism and Islamophobia in Europe, forests: the future of our planet.
The session will also be addressed by Macedonian President Gjorgje Ivanov, Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic, and High Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio.
