Death of Your valuable father Heydar Aliyev, along with your country, has deeply grieved Turkey as well.

Demise of esteemed Heydar Aliyev who has great contributions in gaining Azerbaijan independence after collapse of the Soviet Union, is a great loss for your country, for our country, as well as for the entire world.

As esteemed Heydar Aliyev said, “we are one nation, two states”. Between Azerbaijan and Turkey, there are historical and cultural relations with deep roots. Esteemed Heydar Aliyev has made extraordinary efforts to revive and develop these relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Heydar Aliyev, who has great contributions in the development of peace and democracy not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the whole Caucasus, will never be forgotten. I am convinced that the value of esteemed Heydar Aliyev will be better perceived in his country, in the region and even in the world in the years ahead.

I pray for Heydar Aliyev and in Your person, extend my condolence to the people of Azerbaijan, to the Turkic world.
