2003 the news of the passing away of Your eminently illustrious father and our Dear Brother and friend H. E. Haydar Aliyev, former President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, United States of America. Our thoughts and prayers go to all our brotherly people of Azerbaijan over this sudden loss of a great International Statesman, who was completely dedicated to serving the course of his people, the establishment and consolidation of the independence, stability, peace and development of his Country. His choice at a critical junction to steer the course of peace in the Caucasus as well as commitment to strengthening regional and global security will always remain indelible in our minds.
On behalf of myself, the Government of and people of the Federal of Nigeria, I offer our heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Azerbaijan particularly to Your Excellency and members of Your family. We pray Almighty God to grant the Azeri nation, Your Excellency and members of your family the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
