Your Excellency,

I was deeply grieved to hear of the passing of Your Father, President Heydar Aliyev. On behalf of the European Bank of Reconstruction and development, I express to You and the people of Azerbaijan my most sincere condolences.

The role of Mr. Heydar Aliyev in establishment of stability in the country in the first years of independence is well known. Due to his huge leadership, Azerbaijan managed to consolidate its position among the world countries. He also contributed to opening new opportunities for economic development and investments.

I hope the Mr. Heydar Aliyev’s heritage will become a solid foundation for building prosperous and democratic Azerbaijan and the people of Azerbaijan will benefit from that heritage.
