On behalf of the Congress-Majlis Study Group, please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolence to You and Your family, to the Government of Azerbaijan and to the people of Azerbaijan on the passing of President Heydar Aliyev.
Late President Heydar Aliyev leaves a legacy of unique contribution to the stability in the South Caucasus and Caspian basin and leadership among the countries of the former Soviet Union. He strengthened the ties and friendship between the United States and Azerbaijan. As a result, out two nations enjoy a new level of strategic cooperation as Azerbaijan continues its dynamic development into a free and democratic society. His effort to assist the war against terrorism, energy cooperation, the Silk Road renaissance, promoting GUUAM and economic Open Doors policy are the pillars of his lasting legacy.
These among many other significant efforts will continue to benefit the people of his beloved nation for years to come.
The people of Azerbaijan lost their dear President and your beloved father. Our thoughts are with you, your family and the people of Azerbaijan.
