In the name of Allah!

It was with deep sorrow that I learnt of passing of President Haidar Aliyev.

He was a renowned and experienced politician, who managed to play an effective role in the stability and progress of the fledgling Republic of Azerbaijan and strived for the welfare and peace of the good Azeri people, President Mohammad Khatami said in a message.

Mr. Haidar Aliyev’s services to peace and friendship in Azerbaijan will never be forgotten from memories and his fruitful visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran last year was a turning point in the two countries’ relations.

On the occasion of passing of President Haidar Aliyev, I express deep condolence to You, and brotherly people of Azerbaijan. May Allah send down good health and success to You.
