It is with deep sorrow that we heard about the death of your father, former President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Heydar Aliyev.
President Aliyev was an outstanding statesman and personality, who played a very important role in the development processes taking place in Azerbaijan. In the most critical period of Azerbaijan’s recent history, his leadership of the country brought peace and stability closer to his people. The impact of his efforts to strengthen Azerbaijan’s position in the international arena and the relationships between Azerbaijan and the World Bank is lasting.
