RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTER REVERED MEMORY OF PRESIDENT HEYDAR ALIYEV
Defense minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov who worked with the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in the soviet times, came to the embassy of Azerbaijan in Moscow to revere memory of this great personality.
Together with the people of Azerbaijan, the Russians, especially those who knew Heydar Aliyev closely, are in grief, the Minister said. “I had to meet several times with Heydar Aliyev when I was Secretary of the Security Council and defense minister. Once I was under his charge, as a young employee at the operation department of the USSR KGB and he was a KGB general. Writing my deep, sincere memorial words, I remember now our meeting several years ago in Baku. It is difficult to believe that such a wise man and politician who led Azerbaijan to the future has left us”.
