SOCAR PRESIDENT MEETS WITH DELEGATION OF EUROPEAN COMMISSION

Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company /SOCAR/ met with the visiting delegation led by Deputy Director General of the European Commission for External Relations Fokion Fotiadis, the Company's press-service said. Mr. Abdullayev informed the visitors on the work being done to ensure delivery of the high quality Azeri oil to the European market. He said that construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline is approaching the end, noting the pipeline will play an important role in European countries energy supply.

Mr. Fotiadis said European Union is very interested in expanding of the relations with Azerbaijan, pointing to the necessity of SOCAR’s closer integration into the European market.

The sides also touched on the prospects of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline, and cooperation with Azerbaijan in terms of resolving natural gas problems in the European countries.
