Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis meets Moldovan Premier
Baku, January 18 (AZERTAC). Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has today met Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat.
Asadov praised the level of relationship between Azerbaijan and Moldova. He underlined the role of two countries` presidents in development of bilateral ties. The Speaker pointed out about 50 documents, signed between the two countries, created a solid basis for bilateral cooperation.
Asadov stressed the role of parliaments in development of relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova. He described cooperation between the two countries` parliamentarians within international organizations as “fruitful.”
The Speaker also said Filat`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to boosting cooperation between both governments and legislative bodies of the two countries.
Asadov also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, describing it as a serious threat to regional development and security. He said the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as well as Transnistrian problem of Moldova must be settled on the basis of norms and principles of international law.
For his part, Prime Minister Filat spoke of the importance of reciprocal visits, saying they create strong foundations for development of relations. He stressed the necessity of expanding cooperation in cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
The Prime Minister also said Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Transnistrian problem must be resolved on the basis of norms and principles of international law.
The sides discussed prospects for development of inter-parliamentary ties, cooperation within international organizations and other issues of mutual interest.
