Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament meets with TRNC Speaker of Assembly

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.
During the meeting, the sides noted that the Parliamentary Union serves as an effective platform for further deepening relations among the legislative bodies of the OIC member states and for discussing a range of important issues. They also praised the excellent organization of the conference hosted by the Milli Majlis.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova fondly recalled her previous meeting with Ziya Öztürkler and noted that the existing contacts, reciprocal visits, and meetings between the speakers and members of the two parliaments contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations.
The sides emphasized the importance of cooperation and the activities of the friendship groups in both parliaments. They described the trilateral meetings of the friendship groups of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a commendable initiative.
During the conversation, Azerbaijan’s consistent support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was highly appreciated. The Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for this support.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
