TRACECA, "Silk Road Initiative" Start Cooperation
Baku, April 8 (AZERTAC). “The cooperation within the "Caravanserai" Project of "Silk Road Customs Cooperation Initiative" is the first step of a joint work with TRACECA. It will further serve to increase the effectiveness of the international supply chain, trade facilitation and transit transportation,” Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Rza Hasanaliyev told a first meeting of the working group developing the project.
The "Caravanserai" Project has been prepared on the basis of the Batumi Declaration within the "Silk Road", consisting of 17 participating countries.
The meeting was held within the cooperation between the EU international transport cooperation program TRACECA and Silk Road Customs Cooperation Initiative, initiated by a forum of the customs administrations of the Silk Road countries and supported by the decision of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission.
Hasanaliyev expressed support for the working group to develop the "Caravanserai" Project.
The participants of the working group addressed the TRACECA Permanent Secretariat with a request to coordinate the activity within the project. The working group members will send their proposals for regional studies to the permanent secretariat in the nearest future within the visits to the border crossing points for the "Caravanserai" Project.
TRACECA is an international transport cooperation program between the EU and its Partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku, Azerbaijan. The cooperation framework covers the areas of maritime transport, aviation, road and rail, transport security and transport infrastructure.
