13 KILLED, 12 INJURED IN BRAZIL BUS ACCIDENT
Baku, May 17 (AZERTAC). A bus accident in northeastern Brazil left at least 13 dead and 12 injured, local media reported.
The driver of the vehicle, with 35 on board, lost control on a sharp curve and the bus plunged down a ravine near the town of Acailandia, in Maranhao state.
Initial treatment was provided at a local clinic, while those with more serious injuries were taken to the neighboring city of Imperatriz.
A witness told Globo television that at the time of the accident there was “low-hanging fog” in the region and the bus was traveling at high speed, adding that the driver apparently did not see the curve.
The bus was covering its normal route between the cities of Teresina, capital of the northeastern state of Piaui, and Goiania, in the central state of Goias.
