20 killed in road accident in NE Nigeria

Baku, April 20, AZERTAC

Twenty people were killed and one person was injured in a road accident Tuesday morning in Nigeria's northeastern state of Bauchi, traffic police said, according to Xinhua.

The accident, which involved a commercial bus and a Sharan Volkswagen vehicle, occurred at Huturu village on the Bauchi-Kano road, Yusuf Abdullahi, a sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi, said at a press briefing in the city of Bauchi, the state capital.

Abdullahi attributed the cause of the accident to dangerous driving and speeding violations.

"Twenty one people were involved in the crash, and there were 12 male adults, five female adults, one male child, and three female children," he said, adding the injured one was receiving treatment at a local hospital.
