Minister of Economy: Azerbaijan will continue studies of Zaylik alunite deposits

Baku, September 22, AZERTAC

“The implementation of the "Dashkasan" iron ore project is planned to be carried out in stages. Local iron ore mines, enrichment, and pellet production facilities will be established at the site,” said Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, as he addressed a meeting dedicated to the “State Program on the Development of Mining (Metal Ores) and Metallurgical Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027–2030,” chaired by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to him, one of the main goals is to use the produced iron as a raw material in domestic metallurgical enterprises.

“Azerbaijan will also continue its studies of the Zaylik alunite deposits. The goal is to determine the economic potential of this additional raw-material base. We rely primarily on the development of modern technologies here. As a result, Azeraluminium’s exports are expected to increase from AZN 252 million in 2025 to AZN 510 million in 2030,” he added.
