Azerbaijan is developing a modern model of "green" logistics in the region, says international expert
Baku, May 15, AZERTAC
In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its position as a key transit and logistics hub in the region thanks to the large-scale modernization of its transport infrastructure and the implementation of environmental standards, Gaydar Abdikerimov, an international expert on logistics and transport route development, said in the latest episode of the "Azerbaijan and the World" program broadcast on the AZERTAC website.
According to him, the relocation of the Baku International Seaport to Alat, the development of railway infrastructure, and the electrification of transport lines have become strategically important decisions for strengthening the country's transit potential. The expert noted that the transition of railways to a modern electricity supply system has significantly increased transportation efficiency and ensured more environmentally friendly logistics.
He emphasized that the fully electrified section from the port of Alat to the Boyuk Kesik station effectively creates a "green corridor" for international freight transport. He assessed that compliance with ESG standards and the implementation of sustainable logistics principles are becoming a significant competitive advantage for Azerbaijan in its work with European partners.
