Baku, May 17, AZERTAC
“Despite economic pressures, Iran continues its efforts in sustainable urban development, urbanization, and social welfare. The country is expanding urban infrastructure, reducing multidimensional poverty, implementing community-based urban renewal programs, and advancing resilience to climate change and waste management,” said Gholamreza Kazemian, Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development for Urban Planning and Architecture, in his remarks at the Ministerial Meeting on the New Urban Agenda held as part of the WUF13.
The Iranian official added that Iran attaches special significance to the development of renewable energy and innovative initiatives at the national level.
He highlighted that regional conflicts have caused serious damage to cities and civilian infrastructure, making reconstruction of settlements and key infrastructure a top priority.
Gholamreza Kazemian stressed the need for practical solutions to build safer, more resilient cities and urged the international community to support peace and humanitarian values.
