Anacláudia Rossbach: We hope settlements to be suitable for both people and nature

“The discussions of the Baku-hosted 13th Session of the World Urban Forum are dedicated to the transformation of cities. We must be able to treat urban residents with greater respect. All people’s needs should be met not only within the framework of market mechanisms, but also through the protection of their rights and the provision of essential services. That is why these changes are needed,” said Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), while addressing the opening ceremony of the Mexican pavilion at the Urban Expo.
“We hope settlements will be suitable for both people and nature. We aspire to participate in the WUF14 event in Mexico City, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, in 2028. We are already looking forward to that meeting and are very pleased that after Baku, we will meet in Mexico City,” the UN-Habitat Executive Director added.
