Baku, May 19, AZERTAC
“Transport corridors, infrastructure, and urban development are closely interconnected. Modern transport corridors simultaneously influence settlement processes, industrial development, labor mobility, investment targets, housing demand, and climate resilience,” said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the event titled “Cities at the heart of connectivity: Urban reconstruction and regional cooperation – How can urban reconstruction turn cities into engines of regional connectivity and shared prosperity?” held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that sustainable and properly planned cities are of great importance in ensuring long-term economic and social benefits.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts in the liberated territories. According to the Minister, cities, settlements, and villages are being rebuilt based on the principles of sustainability, “smart governance,” green energy, climate resilience, and human-centered urban planning.
