“Payment for water services creates a serious burden for people living in unemployment and poverty,” said Rose Molokoane, Special Representative of the of Slum Dwellers International Organization, during the event entitled “UN 2026 Water Conference: Urban housing roadmap " as part of WUF13.
She noted that for this reason, it is important to approach the issue of water supply not only from a financial perspective, but also from the perspective of social justice and affordability.
"Stronger cooperation between governments and communities should be established, and the experience and needs of local people should be taken into account in decision-making," she emphasized.
