IOM Deputy Director General hails Great Return program

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), who is visiting the country to attend the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The meeting focused on discussions regarding the current state of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IOM, prospects for joint activities, and issues of mutual interest in migration management.
The sides commended the dynamics of Azerbaijan’s long-term relations with UN specialized agencies, particularly the International Organization for Migration. The importance of joint initiatives aimed at modernizing migration governance mechanisms was highlighted.
Bayramov briefed the IOM official on ongoing infrastructure projects and economic recovery efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, noting that the sustainable and phased return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) is being successfully implemented as a key government priority.
Ugochi Daniels praised Azerbaijan’s migration reforms, especially efforts related to the return of IDPs and the Great Return program, while expressing readiness for continued cooperation.
The meeting also covered regional issues.
