Baku, May 19, AZERTAC
The session entitled “Future Urbanization: how will your city change over the next decades?” was held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The event presented the World Urbanization Prospects 2025 and for the first time, a comprehensive analysis for the future priorities of the cities were reviewed.
It was noted that while rapid population growth in some cities has led to overcrowding and housing shortages, other cities were experiencing a decline.
Along with experts from the UN Population Division, EU Joint Research Center, and the UN Habitat, Arzu Taghiyeva, the head of the sector at the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, also participated in the panel discussions and provided information on the country’s statistical approaches and experience in the field of urbanization.
