National Coordinator for WUF13: Garabagh and East Zangezur are becoming a hub of sustainable development

“Reconstruction and urban development in the liberated territories have emerged as a key pillar of sustainable development, green energy, and regional economic integration,” said Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and National Coordinator for WUF13, in his remarks at the special session on Urban Regeneration and Regional Cooperation, held as part of WUF13.
He noted that the Garabagh and East Zangezur region has an estimated 10 GW green energy potential, with over 300 MW of hydropower operating and 340 MW of solar projects under development. Anar Guliyev highlighted the strategic importance of water management, including plans for nine reservoirs to support agriculture and irrigation across more than 600,000 hectares.
The Commitee Chairman also emphasized that two industrial parks covering 400 hectares have been established in Aghdam and Jabrayil, with over 50 companies operating or implementing projects there. Anar Guliyev said total investments have exceeded 282 million US dollars.
