Canadian official: World Urban Forum is an important platform
Baku, May 17, AZERTAC
Janet Golding, Assistant Deputy Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities of Canada, said that in 2017, the Government of Canada adopted its long-term National Housing Strategy, within the framework of which more than 115 billion Canadian dollars in federal investments over a period exceeding ten years have been allocated to support population groups most in need of housing.
She made the remarks during a ministerial roundtable held as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The official noted that Canada will prioritize three key areas in the coming years: accelerating housing construction, promoting inclusive growth and strengthening partnerships, and developing climate-resilient and energy-efficient cities.
She emphasized that the World Urban Forum serves as an important platform for exchanging experience and identifying common solutions among countries, adding that Canada is ready both to share its experience and to learn from the practices of other nations.
