Azerbaijan plays important role in protection of regional peace and stability
Baku, October 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan plays an important role in protection of regional peace and stability, head of Italy-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group, Senator Rossana Boldi said in the meeting with the members of Italy-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary working group in Azerbaijani parliament.
Speaking in the meeting, head of Italy-Azerbaijan interparliamentary working group in Azerbaijani parliament Azar Karimli pointed out existence of high level relations between the two countries.
Karimli updated the Italian parliamentarians on problems Azerbaijan faced in the first years of independence, as well as, Armenian aggression against the country. He stressed that a number of countries, as well as Italy supports Azerbaijan`s fair position in Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Adoption of resolution on situation in the South Caucasus, especially on Nagorno Karabakh in Italian parliament and support of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity in this document is evidence to that.
Speaking in the meeting, Rossana Boldi congratulated Azerbaijani people on the 20th anniversary of independence. She pointed out that Azerbaijan rapidly developed over the past 20 years.
Boldi also noted that Italian parliament discusses Nagorno Karabakh conflict frequently, underlining importance of settlement of the conflict and restoration of regional peace and stability as soon as possible.
The sides exchanged views on prospects for development of relations, organization of reciprocal visits and other issues.
