AZERI AMBASSADOR MEETS FINNISH PARLIAMENTARIANS
Baku, September 23 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Sweden, with concurrent accreditation to Norway and Finland Rafael Ibrahimov met Wednesday head of the Finnish parliamentary delegation to PACE Sinikka Hurskainen, chairman of the Parliament`s Foreign Affairs Committee Pertti Salolainen and other MPs.
The ambassador briefed the Finnish parliamentarians on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan and settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The diplomat also spoke of the ongoing economic reforms in Azerbaijan and major regional projects.
The same day, hearings on Azerbaijan were held at the Finnish parliament.
The event was attended by officials of the Finnish Foreign Ministry and those who will monitor the November parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
Addressing the hearings, Ibrahimov said Azerbaijan was a leader country in the South Caucasus region. He also highlighted Azerbaijan`s oil infrastructure and transport routes.
The diplomat pointed out President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the reforms initiated by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador said the dispute must be settled on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
