AZERI MP ATTENDS GLOBAL SUMMIT OF WOMEN 2010 IN BEIJING
Baku, May 22 (AZERTAC). Member of the Azerbaijan Parliament Ganira Pashayeva has attended the Global Summit of Women 2010 in Beijing.
The event brought together more than thousand women from over 80 countries.
Addressing the summit, Pashayeva spoke of the problems that her country had been facing since the first years of independence, particularly the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
She said in the wake of Armenia`s policy of ethnic cleansing, more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven out of their native lands. She added Armenia still continues to occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories.
She also spoke of the current state of women rights in Azerbaijan and economic situation.
Pashayeva also handed over Heydar Aliyev Foundation-made material and books on the Nagorno-Karabakh realities to the participants.
