Azeri Parliament`s Speaker meets Ukrainian Defense Minister
Baku, Mart 17 (AZERTAC). Speaker of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, Ogtay Asadov has met today Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Yezhel.
Asadov said relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine had old history. He noted relationship between the two countries had reached the level of strategic partnership.
The Speaker particularly underlined the role of presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine in development of bilateral ties. He added there was solid legal basis for development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
According to Asadov, the Ukrainian Defense Minister`s current visit to Azerbaijan will play an important role in deepening bilateral relations.
The Speaker also underscored the role of parliaments in development of interstate ties, saying parliamentarians of the two countries have fruitful cooperation within international organizations.
Asadov also briefed Yezhel on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and thanked the Ukrainian side for supporting Azerbaijan`s stance on the issue.
Yezhel, in turn, said his country was interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan. The minister noted he had fruitful discussions in Baku regarding military and technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
Yezhel said “we are closely following the economic development of Azerbaijan and ongoing reforms in the country”. “The accomplishments of the friendly country make us very happy.”
They also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
