BRAZIL TO HOST UN ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS FORUM
Baku, May 25 (AZERTAC). The third global forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) under the theme “Bridging cultures, building peace” will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Among the forum`s participants will be UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio, Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of the Spanish Government Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
Democracy, good governance and cultural diversity, empowering women through education, shaping perceptions, challenging stereotypes: the role of the media today, human rights, ethics and solution to conflicts and public-private partnerships for intercultural dialogue will be high on the forum`s agenda.
The UNAOC group of friends will also convene a ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the event.
Azerbaijan`s delegation for the events will be led by head of the State Committee for the Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov.
The first forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations was held in Madrid in 2008, while the second was hosted by Istanbul last year.
