Egils Levits: Latvia is interested in close cooperation between EU and Azerbaijan

As a member state of the European Union, Latvia is interested in close cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan, said President of Latvia Egils Levits as he made a press statement following his meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
“Latvia welcomes the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Union and Azerbaijan on cooperation in the field of energy. Azerbaijan is now playing a very important role in diversifying the energy supplies of the European Union, also contributing to the energy security of the European Union,” the President of Latvia added.
