EITI INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP SITTING LAUNCHED IN BAKU

The 4th sitting of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International Advisory Group began April 5 at the Hyatt Regency hotel. Officials of the US Department of State and US Agency of International Development /USAID/, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Norway, representatives of UK Department for International Development, Foreign Affairs Ministry of France and Ministry of Solid Minerals of Nigeria, WB, IMF, bp, Chevron, Petrobras, Anglo-American Companies and NGOs, ambassadors of foreign countries to Azerbaijan attend the event.

Participants of the event discussed the work done over the period since the previous sitting, preparation for the upcoming 3rd EITI international conference scheduled for October 2006 in Oslo, Norway, as well as heard reports on some countries’ related experience, and exchanged views on the issues at hand.
