Tashkent to host the 11th International Biennale of Contemporary Art
Baku, October 2, AZERTAC
From October 12 to 16, Tashkent will host the 11th International Biennale of Contemporary Art, titled “Event Horizon”, according to Uza.uz.
As part of the event, works by foreign and Uzbek artists will be showcased at leading museums and galleries in Tashkent. The program also includes a trip to Samarkand, allowing foreign guests and cultural tourism enthusiasts to discover Uzbekistan’s contemporary art and historical heritage.
The Tashkent International Biennale has been held every two years since 2001. This year’s forum focuses on the human condition at the threshold of technological and cultural change. The capital of Uzbekistan, located at the intersection of ancient caravan routes, is framed as an “oasis” and a symbol of hope and new meanings at these crossroads.
The grand opening will take place on October 12 at the Central Exhibition Hall. Over the next few days, exhibitions will be held at the Tashkent House of Photography, the Kamoliddin Behzod Museum of Oriental Miniature Art, the Fine Art Gallery, and the Ikuo Hirayama International Caravanserai of Culture.
The program features art performances, masterclasses, and an international scientific-practical conference. The Charkhpalak exhibition, timed to coincide with Uzbekistan’s 35th Independence anniversary, is considered a separate event. The Biennale will run until October 16.
The 10th Biennale, held in 2024, brought together more than 40 foreign artists and art community representatives from about 30 countries.
