Forum of European and Asian media gets underway in Kiyv
Kiyv, December 9 (AZERTAC). A Forum of the European and Asian Media (FEAM), organized by Russia`s RIA Novosti News Agency kicked off Wednesday here.
The forum brought together over 200 representatives of print and electronic media from CIS, Georgia and Baltic countries, as well as national journalistic unions, rectors of higher educational institutions, experts in the field of information policy and others. Azerbaijan is represented by the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) and independent media outlets.
The forum was addressed by the ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, rector of the Kiev National University after T .Shevchenko, Ambassador Leonid Gubersky, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Anna German, editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti News Agency Svetlana Mironyuk and others.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Eynulla Madatli was present at the forum.
A photo exhibition featuring photographs from CIS, Baltic states, Georgia and those from RIA Novosti`s collection took place on the sidelines of the forum. The photographs included pictures by Vladimir Kalinin (Azerbaijan) and Russian photographer Boris Kaufman (Old Baku and Sumgait bazaar pictures)
The Azerbaijan delegation prevented another Armenian provocation as Ruben Bagdasarian`s photographs depicting Agdere region of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia were withdrawn from the exhibition following protest of Azerbaijanis. Armenian ambassador to Ukraine failed to interfere and RIA agency apologized to the Azerbaijan delegation for the misunderstanding.
